Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne offers a range of support services to assist student throughout their studies. Whether you are looking for academic guidance, financial assistance, social support, or help with a specific situation, dedicated services are available to support you. Academic Guidance (SCUIO)
The SCUIO supports students throughout their academic journey by providing guidance on study choices, academic pathways, and career planning. Students can receive personalized advice, attend workshops, access career resources, and get support with CVs, cover letters, internship and job searches. The service also offers information on changing study paths, applying for a gap year (césure), and continuing to graduate studies.
Taking a Gap Year (Césure)
A césure allows eligible students to temporarily suspend their studies for one semester or one academic year to pursue a personal or professional project in France or abroad. Projects may include an internship, employment, volunteering, entrepreneurship, further study, or another meaningful experience. Students who complete an approved césure retain their student status and may be able to keep certain student benefits, subject to eligibility. At the end of the césure, they return to the program in which they were previously admitted. Requests must be approved by the relevant academic department and follow the University's application procedure.

FSDIE
The Fonds de Solidarité et de Développement des Initiatives Étudiantes (FSDIE) is a university fund that supports both students wellbeing and campus life. Eligible student associations can apply for funding for cultural, artistic, scientific, sports, humanitarian, and community projects.
In addition to funding student initiatives, the FSDIE may also provide emergency financial assistance to students experiencing temporary financial hardship. The fund is financed through the CVEC (Contribution Vie Étudiante et de Campus) and applications are reviewed by dedicated university committees.
Financial Aid & Social Support
Paris 1 and its partners offer several forms of financial and social support to students experiencing difficulties. Available assistance may include emergency financial aid through the FSDIE, confidential guidance from CROUS social workers, tuition fee exemptions, need-based scholarships, and specific annual or one-time CROUS grants.
Students may also find information on emergency support, €1 CROUS meals, food assistance, and psychological support services. Eligibility and application procedures vary depending on the type of assistance and the student’s individual circumstances.

Harassment & Discrimination
If you ever experience or witness harassment, discrimination, sexual violence, bullying or any other inappropriate behavior within the university, you should contact Paris 1's Cellule de Signalement VSS (Violences Sexistes et Sexuelles) as soon as possible. The service provides a confidential and supportive environment where you can report the situation, receive guidance on the available procedures, and be referred to psychological, medical or legal support if needed.
